How to study for clinical pharmacology exam 2012?

Dear students; first of all I miss you all so much and I hope you are doing great in your practical exams. As you know, clinical pharmacology exam will include 3 parts:

Part 1: 5 clinical cases in the form of MCQ, 5 marks for each case, total 25 marks.

Part 2: 4 short questions, 5 marks each, total 20 marks.

Part 3: 5 prescriptions, 1 mark each, total 5 marks.

So; the total marks of the clinical exam= 50 marks, and you already know that this exam will be held after paper 2 in the same sitting and time allocated is ONE hour.

HOW TO STUDY FOR THIS EXAM?:

I-Study the drugs related to the clinical cases from the THEORETICAL BOOK, which are :

1-Anti-Anginal drugs: pages 131-140.

2-Anti-Hypertensive drugs: page 141-149.

3-Anti-Heart failure drugs: page 151-159.

4-Anti-Asthmatic drugs: page 108-113.

5-Antiplatelets, Fibrinolytics, and Anticoagulants: page 173-180.

6-Anti-Ulcer drugs: page 250-257.

7-Anti-Diabetic drugs: page 267-276.

II-Study the scheme of management for each case from CLINICAL Medical Pharmacology Books volume I and II:

1-Bronchial asthma: page 22-23.

2-Angina pectoris: page 31-32.

3-Hypertension: page 37-40.

4-Heart failure: page 44-47.

5-Peptic ulcer: page 56-58.

6-Thromboembolic diseases: page 61-64.

7-Diabetes mellitus: page 69-71.

III-Study very carefully the cases in the CLINICAL Medical Pharmacology Books volume I and II, the cases of the past exams in the M.C.Qs. & Final Examination Book and the cases in the MOCK EXAM.

IV-Study very very very carefully the answers of the short questions (the 25 questions about patient education, drug information, prescription writing, acute rheumatic fever, and general management of poisoning specified by Prof. Dr. Abdelfattah in the orientation lecture).

V-Memorize the specified prescriptions from the CLINICAL Meddical Pharmacology Books volumes I and II:

1-Bronchial asthma: volume II, page 98 or volume I page 24.

2-Allergic rhinitis: volume I, page 29.

3-Angina pectoris: volume I, page 33.

4-Hypertension: volume I, page 40 and 41.

5-Heart failure: volume I, page 47.

6-Peptic ulcer: volume II, page 58.

7-Diabetes mellitus: volume II, page 73.
